We spotted this little beauty at our local dog show. She posed brilliantly, and looks fabulous in this original painting. The Poodle is a beautiful dog who is exceptionally smart and active. The breed comes in three size varieties, and is one of the most popular breeds of dogs today. Poodles can be a variety of solid colors, including white, black, apricot and gray. The breed originated in Germany as a water retriever and still today excels in obedience training and sports. The stylish "Poodle clip" was originally designed by hunters to help the dogs move through the water more efficiently. The patches of hair left on the body are meant to protect vital organs and joints which are susceptible to cold. The Poodle's curly, non-shedding coat may reduce allergic reactions, but does require regular grooming. This active dog breed requires daily exercise, are extremely people-oriented dogs and generally eager to please.
