Julia, a female bald eagle at Shiloh National Military Park in Shiloh, TN, attempts to carry a large tree branch into the nesting tree. It was around this time of the year (April) when many of the eagle watchers were talking about Julia "falling" and branches breaking. It wasn't that she was falling...she was purposefully grabbing branches to break them off and take them to her nest. On this particular day, she was rather ambitious as she broke off -- and attempted to fly with - a 5 foot long branch. We know it was about 5 feet because she was unsuccessful in getting this branch to the nest and she dropped it on the ground near us. Frustrated, she immediately went to another tree and plucked off a smaller branch to add to the nest.
I am an artist living in Tennessee, and I love to spend my days in nature enjoying life's most serene and peaceful moments, whether it be landscapes, watching birds and wildlife, or experiencing the beauty of a simple flower.
